Be found – Search engine optimisation
The concept of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is not complicated. There are just three things you need to do:
- Use the same language as your target audience (Keywords)
- Make your web pages easy for the search engines to read and index
- Get others to link to your site (and have good links to other sites)
Sounds easy? Well, as with so many other things in life, it turns out that implementing these three steps is much harder than you might think.
Finding the right keywords takes dedicated research, careful measurement and a fair amount of fine-tuning.
The essential step of amending existing web sites to make them search engine friendly can be difficult if the site has an inappropriate structure, unsuitable layouts or is built with inflexible tools. In fact in some instances it is easier and more economic to rebuild the whole site rather than try and 'fix' the existing one.
Building links to other sites is also problematical - there are many ways to do this that seem to offer a short route to success, but these could end up running afoul of the search engines strict policies against 'cheating'. Here again it is vital that you know what you are doing.
This is where our experience counts. The experts at Spice have been optimising sites of every shape and size for years and have built up a consistent approach that produces solid results. Typically we would undertake some initial research and testing, we would work with you to optimise the fabric of your web site, then we would monitor and make minor adjustments as necessary on an on-going basis. All this would be backed up by reporting that makes it clear what we are doing and the effect it is having on your web site's success.
